When you craft a custom AI companion in the YourCrush.AI Bot Studio, you have complete control over who can discover, view, and interact with your creation.

This guide explains the three visibility tiers—Private, Unlisted, and Public—and when to use each one.

Comparison of Visibility Tiers

Visibility Tier Appears in Search & Feeds? Accessible via Direct Link? Best Use Case
Private No No (Creator Only) Personal roleplay, testing experimental prompts, private diary companions.
Unlisted No Yes (Anyone with Link) Sharing with close friends, private Discord servers, beta testing with collaborators.
Public Yes Yes Showcasing your work to the global community, growing interactions for Verified Creator status.

1. Private Characters

Private characters are exclusively visible to you. Even if another user somehow obtains the character’s URL, access will be restricted. This is the default setting when drafting new bots in Bot Studio, allowing you to test greetings and system prompts privately.

2. Unlisted Characters

Unlisted characters will not appear on the homepage, category carousels, or search suggestions. However, anyone who receives the direct link can chat with the character. This is ideal for sharing original characters with friends or community writing groups without publishing them to the public catalog.

3. Public Characters

Public characters are indexed in the global catalog, searchable by tag, and eligible for trending carousels. Public characters accumulate interaction metrics that contribute toward your Verified Creator Badge. Ensure all public characters adhere to our Rules of Conduct.

How to Change Visibility Settings

  1. Log in to YourCrush.AI and navigate to My Characters in Bot Studio.
  2. Click the edit pencil icon on the character you wish to adjust.
  3. Under Visibility & Access, toggle between Private, Unlisted, or Public.
  4. Click Save Changes. Your settings take effect immediately.
